Role and Responsibilities

The primary role of a teacher is to provide students with educational activities that enable their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Teachers help students develop skills necessary for productive societal participation.

Instructional Strategies

• Design, write, and use lesson plans aligned with the charter's curriculum.


• Teach according to California Department of Education guidelines, charter policies, and regulations.


• Implement strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to meet diverse learning styles and needs.


• Collaborate with the Special Education Department on IEP requirements.


• Coordinate with staff on instructional goals and methods.


• Oversee teacher aide and volunteer activities.


• Utilize technology to enhance instruction.

Growth and Development

• Incorporate the Portrait of a Graduate and Schoolwide Learner Outcomes into lessons.


• Assist students in improving study methods and habits.


• Conduct assessments to evaluate student success.


• Manage extracurricular activities and sponsor approved outside activities.


• Serve as a role model and support the school's mission.

Classroom Management and Organization

• Prepare classrooms to foster learning and support student development.


• Manage student behavior per the student handbook.


• Ensure safety and proper use of equipment and facilities.


• Contribute to selection of educational materials.

Communication

• Build rapport with parents, students, and staff through conferences.


• Maintain professional relationships with colleagues and community members.


• Communicate information clearly and accurately.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role requires standing, bending, sitting for long periods, listening, lifting up to 50 pounds, and mobility across campus. Additional duties may be assigned as needed, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

• Salary range: $61,000 - $85,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree.


• Valid CA teaching credential.


• Legal work authorization in the U.S.
