Job Summary The Community Engagement and Development Coordinator will build awareness, create community partnerships, and coordinate donations and volunteers to support families affected by the August 2023 Maui wildfires. Based on Maui, the Coordinator will build relationships with local community members and support outreach and engagement strategies to build the organization’s capacity to empower families on their journey to recovery. This position will be supervised by the Maui Family Services Manager, and you will regularly work with the Director of Donor and Community Relations. Family Promise of Hawaiʻi (FPH) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose mission is to transform the lives of families with children in Hawaiʻi facing homelessness by providing housing, resources, and support. Founded in 2005, FPH serves hundreds of families on Oʻahu and Maui through interim housing, rental assistance, case management, and wraparound services. FPH is excited to offer AmeriCorps-sponsored positions through KUPU as part of our dedicated team! AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides individuals with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in their community while receiving a living allowance, post-service year education award, and other benefits. While these positions are funded by AmeriCorps, they are fully integrated into our organization, and you will be working alongside FPH team members to help achieve our mission. For more information on this partnership, click here . This full-time position on Maui will begin on May 10, 2025 and end on April 4, 2026 . Essential Job Functions Community Awareness and Engagement (50%) Engage more community members in service of FPH’s mission by helping to plan and coordinate fundraising and outreach events —including working with vendors, community partners, and other stakeholders —and attending external community events. Share how FPH’s work is transforming lives by capturing the stories of families served by FPH through photos, videos, and interviews. Collaborate with the FPH team to cultivate new donors and steward existing donors through events and communications that showcase the impact that donors are making. Increase awareness of Family Promise of Hawaiʻi by coordinating communications and maintaining a dynamic brand presence through FPH’s social media platforms, email newsletter, website, and other channels. Volunteer Coordination and Engagement (50%) Support FPH’s ability to grow and serve more families by coordinating and expanding the frequency of its volunteer opportunities. Work with the FPH team to recruit, retain, and celebrate volunteers from a variety of sources, including civic groups, schools, businesses, congregations, and more. Provide an on-site presence for volunteers to organize meals and supplies, coordinate workdays, and record hours. Preferred Qualifications & Experience Genuine passion for community service and positive social impact. Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders effectively and share impactful stories through various mediums. Creative marketing abilities to promote initiatives and maintain brand consistency. Proficiency in digital tools and platforms for outreach and content creation, including social media platforms and website content management systems (CMS). Experience in event coordination with attention to detail and relationship-building. Understanding of volunteer management principles to create meaningful experiences. Ability to conduct effective community outreach and build relationships. Strong organizational and time management skills for multitasking. Adaptability to changing priorities and dynamic work environments. The Coordinator must be based on Maui. This position is offered through a partnership with AmeriCorps, which has the following requirements: Be 17 years or older. Have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be working towards one. Hold one of the following citizenship or legal residency statuses: US citizen, US National, Lawful Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card status). Selected participants are offered a conditional acceptance and must meet AmeriCorps criminal history check requirements. Living Allowance and Benefits AmeriCorps provides an annual living allowance of $37,440 ($18/hour) while you are serving in this program.
