Summary The Communications Manager at UNC Health is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies and initiatives. This role involves crafting and executing plans that effectively promote UNC Health's mission, vision, values, and achievements. The Communications Manager will work closely with various stakeholders to ensure cohesive messaging and impactful communication efforts across the organization.
Key Responsibilities - Develop and implement communications plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
- Lead or collaborate with a team of communications professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to create cohesive and effective communication strategies.
- Provide executive support by crafting talking points, messages, and other materials for senior leadership.
- Produce engaging and compelling writing for various channels, that could include newsletters, internal and/or external websites, press releases, and social media.
- Monitor and analyze communication metrics to assess the effectiveness of strategies and make data-driven improvements.
Qualifications - Proven experience in a communications role, with a strong portfolio demonstrating creative and strategic thinking.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong leadership, organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Education Requirements - Bachelors degree in an appropriate discipline.
Licensure/Certification Requirements - No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements - Five (5) years of experience in communications, public relations, marketing or related field.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements - Excellent oral and written communication skills, knowledge of medical research concepts sufficient to enable communication with clinical and basic science faculty.

This position is employed by NC Health (Rex Healthcare, Inc., d/b/a NC Health), a private, fully-owned subsidiary of UNC Health Care System, in a department that provides shared services to operations across UNC Health Care; except that, if you are currently a UNCHCS State employee already working in a designated shared services department, you may remain a UNCHCS State employee if selected for this job.
