Neonatology - Physician Opportunity

We are excited to announce an opening for an academic neonatologist to join our team, focusing on specialized clinical care within Level II and IV NICUs. This position involves engaging in fellowship training, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and conducting research in a pediatric hospital environment. The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, teaching responsibilities, and on-call clinical duties, with chances to contribute to programs dedicated to high-risk neonatal and fetal care.

We are looking for academic neonatologists to join our busy faculty at the Assistant/Associate Professor level, particularly those with a keen interest in Neonatal Neurology, Simulation, and Quality Improvement.

Our Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine comprises 21 faculty members and research staff, operating a robust inpatient service within the 65-bed Level IV NICU at our pediatric hospital, which is a 190-licensed-bed facility affiliated with a prominent medical school.

The Division also supports the labor and delivery services at a nearby hospital, which includes a 42-bed Level III NICU. Additionally, our faculty provide services at four Level II NICUs in the community, offer consultations at the Fetal Care Institute, and manage a high-risk developmental follow-up clinic.

We have a fellowship program that recruits two fellows annually and engage in both intra- and extra-mural funded clinical and basic science research. Our collaboration with the School of Public Health enhances our research capabilities. There are excellent teaching opportunities available for medical students and post-graduate trainees in both didactic and clinical settings.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Attributes:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate patient care in a high-volume NICU environment.
• Proven ability to lead a medical team and collaborate with ancillary services within the NICU.
• Capability to educate and mentor trainees and advanced practice providers.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in time management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver clinical neonatology services at designated NICUs and community SCNs as directed by the Division Director.
• Provide consultative antenatal services and neonatal resuscitation in Labor and Delivery as requested by OB/MFM teams.
• Fulfill in-house call duties at both the NICU and Level III NICU and Labor & Delivery at the affiliated hospital according to the divisional schedule.
• Offer on-call coverage from home for community NICUs as per the Division's schedule.
• Engage in Fetal Care consultations and participate in the high-risk nursery follow-up clinic.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of all services rendered on behalf of the Division.
• Participate in educational conferences for trainees, staff, and community providers as needed.
• Contribute to M&M conferences and present clinical cases as assigned.
• Engage in Quality Improvement projects in consultation with the Division Director.
• Maintain all board licensing and credentialing requirements to uphold privileges at participating hospitals.
• Collaborate closely with faculty mentors and the Division Director on academic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
• Eligibility for a Missouri medical license.
